Forecast on London

A new report by Hamptons International has predicted that the number of London boroughs where the average price of a two-bedroom flat is under £250,000 will fall from 15 to four within in the next five years. Hamptons also forecasts that prices in Greater London will rise by 9% this year, a further 7% the next, 6% in 2015, 4% in 2016, and 4.5% in 2017 and 2018. Elsewhere, the Times looks at what lies ahead for the nation’s housing market over the coming years. It notes that Capital Economics drastically changed its house-price forecasts to 5% growth in both 2014 and 2015 after it previously predicted a fall of 3% next year. While CBRE has said that prices could rise by up to 17% over the next five years.
